Poe Painting #2 measures 30x30 inches and is gallery-wrap canvas stretched on a wood frame. This work deviates only slightly from my personal prime directive of "Positive Space." Though dark in nature in keeping with the Edgar Allen Poe theme, it retains the calming lines and circles I often use, and its variations between gloss and matte surfaces gives is an energy experienced when walking by as lighting changes.

Lee Shiney is a multidisciplinary artist living and working in the former Ar-We-Va school building in Arcadia, Iowa since 2014. His 20 year career spans 25 solo shows and 50 group exhibitions – beginning in the Wichita, Kansas and Kansas City areas – and now with an active presence in Iowa.

He is a co-founder of the annual West Iowa Artists’ Studio Tour, and his next solo exhibition will be at the Witter Gallery in Storm Lake, Iowa in May/June 2027. 

Being a two-time cancer survivor is a major influence in his work.
